Edwin Shoffner has been with six different mattress companies over more than a decade in the field, and currently serves Mattress by Appointment and Mattress Wholesale as president. Edwin Shoffner also loves to attend sporting events, and holds season tickets for the Charlotte Hornets.
The Charlotte Hornets have a unique history among sports franchises, due to the migration of a previous Charlotte Hornets franchise. The team that played in Charlotte during the 1990s moved to New Orleans in 2002 and lost the rights to the Hornets name and lineage when it became the New Orleans Pelicans. The new Hornets franchise, created in 2004 and initially known as the Charlotte Bobcats, inherited the history of the previous Hornets, giving it a “best year” nearly a decade before its creation.
The change also had an effect on the career statistics of one player who followed the original Hornets to New Orleans. Baron Davis, an NBA All-Star in 2002 and 2004, is considered to have been an All-Star with two different franchises, despite not changing teams at any point in the intervening period.
